MP for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has watered down Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s claim that the Akufo-Addo administration’s infrastructure drive is unmatched. He believes Bawumia who is seeking to be the NPP’s flagbearer in 2023 is lying to Ghanaians about their unsatisfactory achievements so far.
During the thanksgiving service by the New Patriotic Party in Accra on Thursday December 29, 2022, Bawumia stated that their administration has performed creditably when it comes to infrastructure development since Ghana gained independence.
Bawumia bragged that the Akufo-Addo government has built more roads, factories, airports among other infrastructure works than any government. “We have built more interchanges than any other government in the 4th Republic,” Bawumia said. “We have built more roads, there is no government that has built more roads than the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
“We have built more factories than any other government since independence. We have built more airports than any other government,” Mr. Bawumia said to the gathered NPP fanatics. But Dr Clement Apaak in a post wondered if Bawumia was serious with Ghanaians.
In a tweet, the Deputy Minority Ranking Member on Parliament’s Education Committee challenged Bawumia to show Ghanaians an airport they have built. “You consider counting filled potholes or patching portions of existing roads as CONSTRUCTING roads. You take supporting existing private factories with funding to be ESTABLISHING factories? And what data did he present in that fallacious rant?” the MP quizzed.
He asked again, “Is my Simon Fraser University senior, Vice President Bawumia, talking about another Ghana on another planet or is he hallucinating? I’m restraining myself not to call him comical.”
