FAIRNESS IN APPOINTMENTS – A CALL TO ACTION FOR THE NDC LEADERSHIP

PRESS RELEASE: FAIRNESS IN APPOINTMENTS – A CALL TO ACTION FOR THE NDC LEADERSHIP
It has come to our attention that some members and foot soldiers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are being denied key appointments in the administration of H.E. John Dramani Mahama. This situation raises serious concerns about fairness, loyalty, and the strategic positioning of the party for future electoral success.
It is troubling to note that while the New Patriotic Party (NPP), during its tenure, prioritized appointing its members to key boards, corporations, and state institutions, the current NDC administration appears to be retaining NPP appointees in some strategic positions. This reality is not only unfair to loyal NDC members who toiled for victory but also a serious misstep that could have long-term political consequences.
The Case of Mr. Philip Ofosu Asante
A striking example is Mr. Philip Ofosu Asante, a known NPP stalwart and former parliamentary candidate, who continues to serve as the Deputy Managing Director of the National Investment Bank (NIB). His continued stay in office, despite the change in government, is deeply concerning. It raises fundamental questions:
How can a key financial institution be entrusted to a defeated opposition figure?
Why should loyal NDC members be sidelined while those who opposed the party’s victory still hold onto strategic positions?
Is the party not undermining its own future prospects by allowing such individuals to remain in office?
A Call to the NDC Leadership
We strongly urge the NDC leadership and the government to act swiftly and decisively by:
- Ensuring that all appointments reflect party loyalty and competence.
- Removing NPP appointees still occupying sensitive government positions.
- Prioritizing NDC members and foot soldiers who worked tirelessly for victory.
The NDC cannot afford to be complacent. The failure to take decisive action now will demoralize the grassroots, weaken party structures, and jeopardize electoral prospects in 2028.
A word to the wise is enough. The time to act is NOW!
Long live the NDC!
Long live Ghana!
By caucus for Matured Democrats
Correct step taken by the Caucus For Mature Democrats to remind leadership to do the right things to promote more vote gains in the next election in 22028. This advise should not be taken lightly to facilitate a guaranteed victory in the next election and beyond. Npp must remain in opposition not less than 100 years at which time the country would have far developed on the path of prosperity for all..
