Vote people who’ll not sell our victory – Alhaji Shriff

National Executive member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Sheriff  Abdul-Nasiru has urged delegates of the upcoming constituency executives elections to avoid money-bag politicians by ensuring that aspirants who would represent the interests of the people are voted for.

Alhaji Sheriff who is lacing his boots in the party to vie for the National Vice Chairmanship position added that NDC remained the only hope for Ghanaians to rescue them from the claws of the naked corrupt Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

He made the call during an interview with EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, in Accra, ahead of the vetting of aspirants and elections of the Constituency executives on October 22-23,2022.

According to him, the 2024 election is crucial for the NDC to win but that would be possible only if delegates eschew personal interest and elect competent and hard-working persons who will secure victory for NDC and  Ghanaians.

He added that the NPP’s quest to remain in power to loot the state is not in doubt but they would be disappointed and pack out from the Jubilee house when the NDC work extra hard, stressing that, “Ghanaians have lost hope in Akufo-Addo and his government and only waiting for  December 7, to show them exit. But as I said, they will not like to leave so easily, they are working and bent on breaking the Eight (8).”

“They (NPP) know what they are doing, they have the Electoral Commission doing everything that pleases them, and so they are not bordered about what Ghanaians are going through. But their plans will fail if we elect leaders at the grassroots level who can manage the polls to stop them from stealing our victory,” Alhaji Sheriff said.

The NDC guru explained that the party’s strong base is at the grassroots level and electing competent members who are loyal to the party is the key to victory.

Alhaji Sheriff also urged the aspirants to be moderate in their campaign expenditure  and as well conduct a peaceful campaign devoid of personal attacks and character assassination, saying,” this is a family contest and we should not be destroying each other simply because you want to win  constituency executive position.”

He said at the end of every contest the winner needs the support of the loser and the loser as well needs to support the winner no matter the defeat to move the party forward.

Per the guidelines, the party will hold its Constituency elections between October 22 and 23, 2022, while the regional elections would be held between November 12 and 13, 2022.

The National Congress will be held on December 17, 2022.
