The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) has endorsed its National Executive Committee’s decision to suspend their seven-week-old strike over poor conditions of service.
85 lecturers out of a total number of 124 voted to support the suspension, while 39 voted against it.
The UHAS decision differs from that of the University of Education, Winneba and the University of Ghana.
Lecturers of UEW and UG on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, voted to reject the decision of their mother union, UTAG, suspending the strike.
Meanwhile, lecturers at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have begun returning to the lecture halls, although the school is yet to vote on the suspension.
During a visit to the KNUST campus on Thursday morning, some UTAG members were seen teaching their students.
However, many students, particularly first years, were stranded as some classes were canceled.
In some instances, no reasons were given as to why some lecturers were unable to attend classes, as they were not able to reach them at all.
