Stan Dogbe, Aide to former President and NDC flagbearer John Mahama. Stan Dogbe, a Special Aide to NDC flagbearer John Mahama, has opined on the apology letter issued by NPP running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known popularly as Napo. Napo had earlier this week, compared President Nana Akufo-Addo’s performance to that of Ghana’s past leaders, specifically mentioning Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

But in a statement on Friday, July 12, the former Energy Minister said he did not intend to denigrate Ghana’s first president or any other past president with his remarks. “My statement last Tuesday, 9th July, in Kumasi on the performance of President Akufo-Addo has elicited varied reactions. The statement reflects my personal opinion about President Akufo-Addo’s impact relative to other Presidents we have had,” Napo said in the statement.

He added: “I note the concerns raised after my statement. I apologize sincerely and regret any discomfort caused.” This according to the NDC stalwart, “is an apology to President Kufuor, and not for the arrogant and disrespectful pronouncement against the Osagyefo.” “They recognize that he must apologize for that first-day gaffe and confirmation of his widely acknowledged arrogance, yet he will not do it wholeheartedly and without conditions. He’s just a disaster, ” he stressed.

We’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo. If you take your Kwame Nkrumah, no one has become president who has protected Ghana and moved it forward like Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo”, he said while praising Akuffo-Addo’s impact on education, health, infrastructure and the economy.
