Mahama to train more TVET teachers
It is very important for Ghana to train more Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) teachers. And I will explain:
Addressing skills gap: Ghana is facing a skills gap in various industries, and TVET teachers play a key role in equipping students with the practical skills needed to fill these gaps. By training more TVET teachers, Ghana can ensure that its workforce is adequately skilled and prepared to meet the demands of the job market.
Promoting economic development: TVET education is essential for promoting economic development in Ghana. By training more TVET teachers, the country can increase the number of skilled workers in key industries, leading to increased productivity, innovation, and competitiveness.
Improving quality of education: TVET teachers play a crucial role in delivering high-quality vocational education to students. By training more TVET teachers, Ghana can improve the quality of TVET education, ensuring that students receive the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their chosen careers.
Enhancing employability: TVET education is closely linked to employability, as it provides students with the practical skills and knowledge needed to secure jobs in various industries. By training more TVET teachers, Ghana can enhance the employability of its workforce, leading to reduced unemployment rates and increased economic prosperity.
Meeting the demands of the job market: The job market is constantly evolving, with new skills and technologies emerging all the time. By training more TVET teachers, Ghana can ensure that its vocational education system is up-to-date and aligned with the needs of the job market, preparing students for successful careers in a rapidly changing economy.
As a result of these former President John Mahama has promised to prioritize the training of more Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) teachers if he is elected as the next president of Ghana.
Mahama, who is the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), made this commitment during a recent campaign event in the country. He emphasised the importance of TVET in providing practical skills and training to young people, which can help them secure employment and contribute to the country’s development.
The former president acknowledged the shortage of TVET teachers in Ghana and pledged to address this issue by investing in the training and development of more teachers in this field. He also promised to improve the infrastructure and resources available for TVET education to ensure that students receive quality training.
Mahama’s commitment to TVET education aligns with his party’s focus on promoting skills development and creating opportunities for youth employment. If elected, he plans to work towards strengthening the TVET sector and providing more opportunities for young people to acquire practical skills that are in demand in the job market.
