Haruna, Ato Forson, Muntaka to testify against Ken Ofori-Atta.

Three Minority MPs have been named among those expected to testify against Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta as the ad-hoc Committee tasked to investigate censure motion against him begins work today. They are Haruna Iddrisu, the Ranking member on the Finance Committee Dr. Casiel Ato Forson who is also a former deputy Finance Minister and Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak.
The three MPs leading the case against the dismissal of Ken Ofori Atta insist he has breached several Constitutional provisions and is personally responsible for the worse economic conditions in the country.
The Censure motion moved by Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu among other things cites despicable conflict of interest that he (Mr Ofori-Atta) directly benefited from Ghana’s economic woes as his companies’ received commissions and other unethical contractual advantage, particularly from Ghana’s debt overhang.
The seven charges also include the unconstitutional withdrawal from the Consolidated Fund in contravention of Article 178 of the 1992 Constitution for the construction of the National Cathedral and the illegal payment of oil revenues into offshore accounts in violation of Article 176 of the 1992 Constitution.
Others are conflict of interest, deliberate and dishonest misreporting of economic data to Parliament, fiscal recklessness, alarming incompetence and gross mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy. Proceedings by the committee co-chaired by MP for Adansi Asokwa, KT Hammond and Dominic Ayine, Bolgatanga East MP, will be telecast live.
