Comrade Baba Iddrisu, Executive Secretary of The Caucus For Mature Democrats has given some reasons why the Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), His Excellency Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a big problem to Ghanaians.

Economic Mismanagement: Critics accuse Bawumia of failing to effectively manage Ghana’s economy as Nana said he brought Bawumia because he is good at economics and the best person to make the cedi stronger. Bawumia criticized the cedi he took over at Ghc4 to a dollar which is now Ghc16 under Bawumia’s leadership.

Unfulfilled Promises: Unmet promises, such as “one district, one factory” and “one village, one dam”, have led to disappointment. In this Hawa Koomson the minister in charge of one village – one dam criticized her government for underfunding her project, the government remained silent till date and she has not been sacked for her failure too.

Digitalization Challenges: Issues with the Ghana Card, digital addressing system, and mobile money interoperability have caused frustration. More annoying was when Bawumia chose the Ghana Card over interchanges that would benefit the masses. His action is described as someone from the OUTER SPACE very far from the realities Ghanaians go through on daily basis.

Lack of Transparency: Accusations of lacking transparency in handling economic issues, including the Agyapa deal and rice his office shared to Muslims during fasting believed to be seized from an importer, but not for the ruling NPP government.

Overemphasis on Digitization: Focus on digitization has overshadowed other critical economic issues while running away from the economy he heads as leader of the Economic Management Team of the state at the moment.

Perceived Arrogance: Some see Bawumia as arrogant and disconnected from ordinary citizens’ struggles when many are those who die daily for deprivation and hunger while Bawumia go around dancing OFF-BEAT to tunes played at such functions.

Inflation and Currency Fluctuations: Failure to control inflation and stabilize the currency he criticized at a time the dollar was only Ghc4, which now skyrocketed to Ghc16 under his leadership.

Rising Debt: Ghana’s increasing debt burden under Bawumia’s watch has escalated to the extent that they cannot even service their own debts they contracted, left alone pay the principal sum borrowed.

Unemployment: Failure to create jobs and address unemployment with increased general youth unemployment, teacher trainee, nursing trainee and graduates unemployment rates at an all-time high under Bawumia.

Healthcare Challenges: Issues with healthcare, including strikes by healthcare workers while some died due to lack of funds to cushion those on dialysis in our healthcare centers and hospitals.

Education Concerns: Challenges in education, including concerns about reform and lack of textbooks for students to learn while his government resorted to printing past questions for students to learn with.

Power Outages: Recurring power outages and energy sector challenges due to lack of funds to purchase gas to power energy plants which Bawumia and his government always attempt to cover up from the citizens to hide his failures.

Transportation Woes: Traffic congestion and poor road conditions and lack of funds for road maintenance amidst consistent fuel prices increments without equal salary increases for citizens to cope with the escalating situations.

Infrastructure Delays: Uncompleted infrastructure projects they started including those they inherited but abandoned.

Corruption Allegations: Accusations of corruption, illegal Mining and cronyism where his in-laws and other family members are appointed into government and President Nana Addo publicly clearing Akonta Mining from being prosecuted when their excavators were caught in the forest illegally.

Lack of Accountability: Failure to hold officials accountable for mistakes and corruption allegations including attempts to clear Cecilia Dapaah when over $1,000,000, £300,000, and an unspecified amount of Ghana cedis were discovered under her bed in her bedroom. The Special Prosecutor publicly accused some government officials including the Attorney General frustrating his efforts to get Justice for the citizens.

Disconnection from Citizens: Perceived disconnection from ordinary Ghanaians claiming things are better when many citizens die of deprivation, poverty, and hunger.

Overreliance on Foreign Aid: Reliance on foreign aid and loans after promising to move Ghana beyond aid and promising to develop Ghana without borrowing.

Unmet Expectations: Failure to meet expectations and deliver on promises when his performance and achievement tracker woefully failed to produce credible physical infrastructure projects on the ground for Ghanaians to trust.

The Caucus For Mature Democrats (CMD) is livid for such a woeful failure and his insensitivity to even accept his blame and apologize to Ghanaians for sending the dollar from Ghc4 to a higher height of Ghc16 to a dollar.

CMD wherefore, based on such a very DISAPPOINTING failure, urges Ghanaians not to vote for anyone who prioritizes Ghana Card which benefits him as an individual than support Interchanges that serves the interest of Ghanaian travelers and also serves our domestic and foreign business partners especially the African Continental Free Trade Area where Ghana serves as the Headquarters of the Free trade Zone adopted by the member states of the African Union (AU).

Ghanaians must stand together come 7th December 2024 and vote for change since Ghana is seriously on a cross roads. CMD urges Ghanaians to reject NPP at all cost since NPP are only ready to seek wealth for the president, ministers, MPs, family members and party apparatchiks instead of seeking the betterment of the state and all citizens.
