The incoming administration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed its commitment to the 24-Hour Economy Policy, a key pillar in its agenda to revitalize Ghana’s economy.

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), highlighted this initiative as a priority for the new government.

President-elect Mahama has unveiled a strategic team to deliver on his administration’s promises, including key appointments such as Julius Debrah as Chief of Staff and Augustus Goosie Tanoh, a distinguished economist and statesman, as the lead architect of the 24-Hour Economy policy.

In an interview with Channel One TV, Dr. Boamah outlined the administration’s vision to transform Ghana’s economy into a vibrant, round-the-clock system that maximizes productivity, creates jobs, and enhances service delivery across various sectors.

“Goosie Tanoh is a leader with a razor-sharp mind and impeccable credibility,” Dr. Boamah said, expressing confidence in Tanoh’s ability to oversee the implementation of the ambitious policy. “His expertise will ensure the success of this transformative initiative.”

“Anybody who knows him [Goosie Tanoh] will know that he has a razor-sharp mind. He has impeccable credibility, and he is the person who is going to be in charge I believe that John Mahama and Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman in the presidency signals a restoration of dignity and integrity to the presidency and that is where the 24-hour economy will be activated from,” he stated.

The 24-Hour Economy Policy aims to modernize infrastructure, improve access to essential services, and foster a culture of efficiency in both public and private sectors.

By extending operating hours and leveraging technology, the policy seeks to boost economic activity, attract investments, and enhance the livelihoods of Ghanaians.

This bold initiative reflects the incoming administration’s determination to tackle Ghana’s economic challenges and position the country as a competitive player on the global stage.
