2024 Election: If we vote well, there will be freedom, and development; if not there will be more hardships – Mahama
Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called on Ghanaians to avoid what he describes as the mistakes made in the 2016 and 2020 elections by voting out the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking at a mini rally at the Nsawam Adoagyiri lorry station on Monday, November 18, the former president cautioned voters against repeating their previous mistakes in the upcoming 2024 general election. He urged them to vote for the NDC to ensure freedom and development, warning that a vote for the NPP would only lead to continued hardships.
“In 2016, we made a wrong choice; in 2020, we repeated that choice, but I know that on December 7, 2024, we are going to correct the mistake that we made and bring NDC back into government,” Mahama stated. He emphasized the importance of making the right choice at the ballot box, linking the outcome directly to the future well-being of Ghanaians.
“At all times, everyone wants a good life and development. There are consequences to our choices: if we vote well, there will be freedom and development; but if we don’t, there will be hardships. So, December 7th is another opportunity to right the wrong by voting for the NDC,” he added.
With less than 20 days to go before the December 7 elections, several polls and surveys suggest a strong chance of victory for John Dramani Mahama. However, he faces stiff competition from the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in what is expected to be a closely contested race.
