Next NDC government to revitalize aluminium industry to stimulate industrialization
“The next government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will develop an integrated aluminum industry to stimulate industrialization, reduce import dependency, and create sustainable jobs.
“We will incentivize the expansion of the automotive and vehicle assembly sector to provide jobs and reduce the costs of motor vehicles; and promote light industrial manufacturing, especially of apparel and electronic products.
“We will support the pharmaceutical industry to enhance local drug production and promote the use of modern technologies to facilitate growth in the furniture and furnishing industry,” Mr. John Dramani Mahama, NDC Election 2024 Presidential Candidate, stated in the party’s manifesto.
In the NDC Election 2024 manifesto on the theme “Resetting the economy and creating prosperity for all,” former President Mahama, who occupies the 8th position on the ballot paper, said his next administration will invest in advanced technologies to support the production of plastics, fertilizers, and synthetic materials.
He said his next government will revitalize the textile industry with a special focus on Juapong Textiles, ATL (Akosombo), and new textile industries in the Northern Regions; revitalize the Industrial Hub of Obuasi, started by the previous NDC government; as well as the tomatoes. Why is this processing industry at Pwalugu, and the Bono Region?
“We will revitalize the meat processing industry, especially the Zuarungu Meat Factory; the sugar industry, especially the Komenda Sugar Factory; and the leather processing enclave in Kumasi, with technical and financial support for small-scale local shoemakers; as well as incentivize the local production of menstrual hygiene products,” he said.
He added, The next NDC government will promote the development of strategic trade and industrial enterprises, including e-commerce, to enhance market access and competitiveness in Accra, Tema, Takoradi, Tamale, and Kumasi and support the redevelopment of the Abossey Okai, Suame, and Cape Coast artisanal enclaves.
“We will establish modern markets in the six newly created regions; promote the consumption of Made-in-Ghana products by reinstating the Brand Ghana Council and the Made-in-Ghana Committee; and assist local SMEs to standardise production.
“We will launch comprehensive awareness campaigns to increase visibility and recognition and mandate Ministries, departments, and Agencies to patronize Made-in-Ghana goods and services.”
The NDC therefore called on the electorate to vote massively for former President John Dramani Mahama, who occupies the 8th position on the presidential ballot paper, and all NDC parliamentary candidates to execute pragmatic policies to restore confidence and integrity in Ghana.
