FROM ECONOMIC WIZARDRY TO EXORCISMS: Dr. Bawumia’s Unconventional and Desperate Campaign for the Presidency
Ahmed M. Gedel Writes:
Deputy Zongo Caucus Coordinator, USA.
In a baffling turn of events, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, once touted as an economic wizard, has abandoned his supposed area of expertise to embark on a dubious quest for spiritual validation.
His recent visits to shrines and synagogues, ostensibly to secure divine endorsement for his presidential ambitions, have left many Ghanaians bewildered. This abrupt shift from economics to exorcisms raises fundamental questions about Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to good governance and his understanding of the nation’s pressing challenges.
Has the Vice President lost faith in his own economic prescriptions, or is this a desperate attempt to hoodwink the electorate?
Ghanaians are crying out for solutions to the crippling debt, soaring inflation,Galamsey menace, and stagnating economic growth that have characterized the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.Instead, Dr. Bawumia seeks solace in mystical realms, forsaking the very realm where his expertise was supposedly honed.
Meanwhile, John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s flagbearer, has consistently demonstrated a grasp of the nation’s complexities, offering concrete policy alternatives to address Ghana’s economic woes. His leadership style, marked by empathy and inclusivity, presents a stark contrast to Dr. Bawumia’s esoteric escapades.
As Ghanaians prepare to choose their next leader, they must decide between a candidate peddling spiritual quick fixes and one committed to evidence-based governance. The choice is clear: John Mahama’s proven track record, vision, and commitment to sustainable development make him the obvious choice for Ghana’s future.
Dr. Bawumia’s exorcisms may provide temporary optical comfort, but they will not create jobs, fix roads, or revitalize our economy. It’s time to prioritize substance over spectacle, and John Mahama is the leader who can deliver.
The verdict is clear: Ghana needs a president, not a visit to a pastor or fetish priest.
