The Tainted Tapestry of Democracy: Unraveling the Threads of Electoral Deceit “Enough is Enough” Demo justified

Deputy Zongo Caucus Coordinator, USA

As the fabric of Ghana’s democracy hangs in the balance, a sinister plot to undermine the electoral process has been unearthed, threatening to forever alter the trajectory of our nation’s future.

The recent revelations regarding the Voters Register have exposeyd a complex web of manipulation, deceit, and blatant disregard for the principles of democracy.

A Labyrinth of Lies
The findings are nothing short of astonishing. Over 243,000 previous transfers have been surreptitiously added to the 2024 transfers, with a staggering number of repeated instances of the same names.

This brazen act of electoral fraud is compounded by the existence of more than 15,000 unidentifiable voter transfer paths, sparking fears of widespread fake registrations. The very foundation of our democracy is being eroded before our eyes.

The Vanishing Voters
In a chilling turn of events, 3,957 voters who registered in 2023 have been expunged from the 2024 Provisional Register due to transfer anomalies. This is a clear case of electoral malfeasance, where the voices of citizens are being systematically silenced.

Furthermore, 2,094 voters have been transferred to different polling stations without being listed in the Absent Voter List, as required by law. This is a recipe for disaster, with the potential to disenfranchise thousands of voters.

The Corrupt Core
At the heart of this electoral deceit lies a corrupt system, where files are deliberately manipulated to conceal the names and photos of registered voters. This is not merely a case of incompetence; it is a calculated attempt to undermine the electoral process. The specter of chaos on election day looms large, as voters may be denied their fundamental right to participate in the democratic process.

A Call to Arms
In the face of such egregious electoral malfeasance, the people must rise up and demand justice. The “Enough is Enough” demonstration on Tuesday, September 17th, is a clarion call to all those who refuse to stand idly by while our democracy is ravaged. We must unite in our quest for electoral integrity, demanding:

1.A comprehensive audit of the Voters Register.

2.Unwavering transparency and accountability in the electoral process.

3.The protection of the rights of all Ghanaian citizens.

The Future is Ours
The fate of our nation hangs in the balance. We must choose between a path of electoral deceit and one of democratic integrity. Join the “Enough is Enough” demonstration and be a part of the movement that will shape the future of Ghana.

Together, we can weave a new tapestry of democracy, one that is founded on the principles of transparency, accountability, and justice.
