The Deputy Constituency Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tain Constituency, Hon Obeng Francis, has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, to invite Food and Agricultural Minister Bryan Acheampong for questioning.
This comes after Bryan Acheampong made comments during a campaign tour in the Eastern Region that Obeng Francis deemed threatening and causing fear and panic.
Bryan Acheampong said the NPP will use any means possible to win the 2024 elections and if the NDC don’t understand they should go and burn the sea.
Obeng Francis expressed concerns that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, led by President Nana Akuffo Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia, is attempting to intimidate Ghanaians ahead of the 2024 elections.
Obeng Francis accused the NPP government of attempting to instill fear in Ghanaians ahead of the 2024 elections, citing Bryan Acheampong’s comments as a prime example.
He alleged that the NPP is resorting to intimidation and threatening rhetoric to sway voters, rather than focusing on their achievements and policies.
Obeng Francis emphasized that the NDC remains committed to peaceful and democratic means of contesting the election, and urged authorities to hold political leaders accountable for their language and actions.
He emphasized that his party is committed to peaceful democratic processes and will not engage in chaos or vigilantism. He urged the Council of Elders, Christian Council, and security agencies to address Acheampong’s comments and ensure that political leaders refrain from making threatening statements. Obeng Francis made these remarks during an exclusive interview with Asonaba Nana Konadu on Tain FM 90.9.
