Hawa Koomson will go to jail over 1-village, 1-dam – Mustapha Gbande

Mustapha Gbande

The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to prosecute former Minister of the now-defunct Special Development Initiative Mavis Hawa Koomson when voted into power over failed policies implemented, which the party contends has led to the state incurring huge financial losses.

According to the NDC’s Deputy General Secretary, Mustapha Gbande, a future NDC government will scrutinize deeply policies such as the one village, one dam, infrastructure for poverty eradication program (IPEP) which was supposed to ensure that communities had access to potable water and modernized toilet facilities since all such policies have failed entirely.

He suggests the ministry only served as a conduit for the NPP to divert state funds and will be prudent to trace funds lost to the state through the projects, more especially the one village one dam.

The prosecution, according to Mustapha Gbande, will also extend to cover acts of violence perpetrated against members of the NDC in Kasoa which are believed to have been sponsored by Mavis Hawa Koomson – matters such as the gun shooting and motorbikes at the Steps to Christ registration center in 2020, the shooting incident on December 7, 2020 which caused the injuring of some three persons will also be looked into.

Speaking to Metro News on the sidelines of community engagement series by the party, the deputy general secretary also announced that the NDC is implementing a strong campaign strategy to snatch the Awutu Senya East parliamentary seat from the NPP and will ensure also that ballots are protected come December 7th.
